Buckle Up. Paul Buckle in as Tech Advisor

The team has called in some reinforcements in the front office naming Paul Buckle as a technical advisor to the team. Buckle has had experience in USL as the manager of the Sacramento Republic in addition to his current role as an assistant with Southampton U23.

From 2015-2017, Buckle was the head coach and technical advisor at Sacramento FC. Inheriting a team that won a USL championship in 2014 must've been a dream scenario for Buckle and he sustained this success by making the playoffs in each of his 3 years – finishing 1st in the western conference in 2016. He struggled however in the playoffs with a 1-3 record only advancing past the first round once. Sacramento did find some success in the U.S. Open Cup making a run to the 5th round losing to the LA Galaxy but upsetting an MLS side in Real Salt Lake 4-1 along the way.

Most recently Buckle was an assistant coach at Southampton FC for the U23s. The storied premier league franchise has a history of developing young talent such as superstars Gareth Bale, Sadio Mané, and Virgil Van Dijk. The once midfielder also has an extensive career playing for English League Two, One, and Championship squads from 1989-2007.

Buckle checks all the boxes in terms of career experience and hopefully with it he can help develop talent here in Hartford as well as bring in some from abroad. This is a really exciting hire for the team especially since it has been apparent during the early part of this season that we have been outmatched in terms of skill and talent.

So buckle up, HA is trending upwards – first win on Tuesday, @Loudon tomorrow (very winable game), and have some new blood shaking things up in the front office.

Lastly, forgot to mention the man is married to Rebecca Lowe – the voice of NBC sports coverage of premier league soccer. And who knows maybe one day she'll cover the lads in blue and green at Dillon.
